IPL 2017: Piyush Chawla hints at Robin Uthappa’s comeback in Kolkata Knight Rider’s next clash

After missing two consecutive matches for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 10th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL), wicketkeeper-batsman Robin Uthappa is likely to be back in the next game. After thrashing Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 6 wickets and with 29 balls spare at Bengaluru, KKR spinner Piyush Chawla hinted Uthappa’s comeback in the side from next match during the post match press conference. KKR will be playing their next match against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) on Tuesday at Mohali. “Today he was doing his fitness and all. So, hopefully, he will be good to go in the next game. Uthappa has been in good form in this edition of IPL. In last three matches, Uthappa hit three consecutive fifties and is expected to continue batting the same way on Tuesday. So far, he has scored 384 runs from 10 matches at 42.66.

Chawla further spoke about Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine‘s opening batting, who gave a blistering start to KKR in their chase of 159 against RCB. “The way they batted, it was brilliant. In the first 6 overs, the game was taken away from RCB. The best part of their innings was that they backed themselves. If you see their whole innings, there was no cross-batted shots… they played all cricketing shots,” he said.

This was KKR’s 8th win in the tournament and with two more matches to be played; they will look to aim top two spot in the table by winning at least one more. Kolkata Knight Riders are currently at second position in the table after Mumbai Indians, which has won 9 out of 11 matches.
