The player auction for the 2017 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be held on Monday, February 20, an official press release by BCCI announced on Friday. The 8 IPL franchises will go into the player auction with a maximum of INR 143.33 Crs in purse for the 10th season of the cash-rich league. The teams can have a maximum of 27 players including 9 overseas players, while a maximum of 76 players, including 28 overseas, can be bought at the auction. A couple of days back, it was announced that IPL 10 will commence as per the schedule on April 5 this year.

On Wednesday, the newly appointed Committee of Administrators (COA) by the Supreme Court had met the concerned BCCI officials to take stock of the urgent and important matters, mainly concerning the successful conduct of IPL 2017. There were a lot of speculations regarding the clouds of doubt over conduct of IPL this year, following the BCCI–Lodha panel spat. The COA, however, had assured the franchisees and all the stakeholders that all the IPL preparations will be promptly dealt with under the supervision and directions of the COA by the BCCI/IPL management team.
