Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) suffered yet another blow in the build-up to the 10th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Having already lost their star batsman in KL Rahul for the entire season and the regular captain and batting stalwart Virat Kohli for the initial stages of the IPL 2017, it was confirmed late on Monday night that explosive lower-order batsman Sarfaraz Khan will also not be taking a part in the tournament. It has been reported that Sarfaraz suffered an injury during a practise match in Bengaluru and has been ruled out of the IPL 2017 with immediate effect. According to Sportstar, Sarfaraz suffered his injury as he slid on the field during a practise match. He had to be taken off the field on a stretcher, following which the RCB team officials confirmed that Sarfaraz, who was limping back to the dressing room a few minutes later, was ruled out of IPL 2017.

Sarfaraz thus joins a long list of players RCB who are either injured or ruled out. Kohli is nursing a shoulder injury and has been replaced by Shane Watson as the captain, whereas Rahul is out of the entire tournament. Earlier, RCB pace spearhead Mitchell Starc had pulled off from IPL 10 citing personal reasons.

Watson will remain RCB captain till the time Kohli is not completely fit. At the end of India s Test series against Australia, Kohli had informed that he was a few weeks away from attaining complete fitness.
