Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) have been having a rough time in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 so far winning three out of eight games. Their recent defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) showed again how fragile their batting line-up is. Chasing 208 runs to win, it was only Shaun Marsh that kept Kings XI Punjab in the hunt making 84 off 50 balls. Kings XI Punjab lost the match to SRH by 26 runs to stumble to No.6 in the points table. Marsh irrespective of the sides current form believes that Kings XI Punjab can make to the top four and stay in line for their first ever IPL trophy. “Full credit goes to the Sunrisers. They played well and outplayed us in all three facets of the game. We were not on tonight,” Marsh told in the post-match press conference. “We have chased really well in this tournament. But we didn’t get off to the start we were hoping for and lost three quick wickets inside six overs,” he said on Kings XI Punjabâs decision to bowl first on Friday evening.
“We can pull ourselves back in the race and keep our hopes alive for the playoffs…The guys are training hard and we can get on a bit of a roll from Sunday,” Shaun added looking forward to the remaining season. Kings XI Punjab will play three more games in Mohali, against Delhi Daredevils (DD), Gujarat Lions (GL) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
