On Wednesday, Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) captain Steven Smith blamed the dew factor at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Ground in Pune, for their defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). In the match No. 30 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017, KKR thrashed Smith s RPS by a margin of 7 wickets. Chasing 183 to win, KKR were bolstered by a 47-ball 87 by Robin Uthappa, and Gautam Gambhir s 62 off 46 balls. They scored 184 for 3 in a mere 18.1 overs to win the clash with 11 balls to spare. With this win, KKR moved to the top of the IPL 2017 points table and Gambhir reclaimed the Orange Cap back again. Smith said dew played a role while they were defending the target: “I thought at the halfway point that it was quite a good total. The wicket was slow, but the dew came on in the chase. The wicket just sped up and became very good to bat on. The guys were able to hit through the line comfortably. Gautam and Robin batted beautifully.” Full Cricket Updates, Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) vs Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), IPL 2017, Match 30 at Pune

Smith was not very impressed with RPS’ catching. His side dropped as many as 7 catches in their last 4 encounters. He stated that his troops need to buckle up before the sloppy fielding becomes a habit: “We put down a few catches and it proved costly, we need to work on our fielding. It has happened in a few games in a row and we need to change it. Not sure if it’s an attitude problem. But, hopefully, we can improve on our fielding.”
