Virender Sehwag and Ishant Sharma were involved in a friendly banter on Twitter ahead of the start of IPL 2017. Sehwag referred to Ishant as Burj Khalifa in reference to his height, welcoming him to Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) squad. Sehwag also shared a picture of Ishant making funny faces, which was from the recently-concluded Test series between India and Australia, wherein the lanky pacer was seen was making strange facial expressions against Steven Smith and Matthew Renshaw. Sehwag wrote, Welcoming the Hairy&Slightly distorted Burj Khalifa @ImIshant to the @lionsdenkxip family.Plz Welcome him by making such a face wherever u r. (sic) Ishant was snapped up by KXIP recently as a replacement for Murali Vijay after he went unsold in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 auction. Many felt that his base price of Rs. 2 crores was on the higher side, which is why no franchise bid for him. Also, Ishant s performances and statistics in the shorter formats have not been encouraging of late. In fact, during the tour of West Indies, Ishant himself had admitted he needs to do a lot of hard work as far as white ball cricket is concerned. On Wednesday, Ishant was quick to respond, telling Sehwag to make similar expression at the practice session. Thanks paaji !!! And first you have to make the same expression tomorrow in the practice session, (sic) Ishant wrote in reply to Sehwag. But it did not stop there. Sehwag wrote further, That’s the difference Burj Khalifa ji.We have to “Make” that expression. Making that expression itself is a practice session. Sehwag has represented IPL franchises like Delhi Daredevils (DD) and KXIP. He however is now the mentor of the KXIP team. KXIP finished at the bottom in the IPL points table in 2016 and will be aiming to do much better this time around, with Glenn Maxwell as their new captain. Their best finish was when the finished as runners-up. Despite setting a target of 200, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) chased it down with 3 wickets and 3 balls to spare.
