Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) have achieved the top spot in the Vivo IPL 2019 points table defeating Delhi Daredevils (DD) by 4 runs in a last over thriller. KXIP could only post a total of 143 after being put to bat but started their second innings very well reducing DD to 3 down in the Powerplay. It was Ankit Rajpoot who got the important wicket of Prithvi Shaw and Glenn Maxwell. He finished with figures 4-0-23-2 and was awarded the man of the match.
In the post match presentation, Rajpoot talked about how he enjoyed the responsibility in a low scoring game.
“I am very happy because this is my second match for KXIP. It’s my responsibility towards the team. I thought if the captain gives me responsibility then I had to do well and pick wickets, because I wanted the side to win in a low-scoring game. ”
He later added his plan in today’s game. Revealed that the focus was more on length and not on variations.
“My target was to bowl wicket-to-wicket. I wanted to work on the length ball and not try too much variation. I tried to get Shreyas out with the final two balls of my spell because we could have then bowled them out earlier.”
