IPL 2018 Auction: Joe Root, Lasith Malinga, Hashim Amla go unsold
Some surprising players have gone unsold in the auctions so far.

IPL 2018 auctions is finally done and dusted. There were several presumptions and assumptions in place already about which player will be sold and who will go unsold. The interest towards IPL auctions have doubled with the return of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR). Over 580 players went under the hammer. There were 169 players who were sold off which 56 were overseas players. There were three rounds conducted for unsold players. Surprisingly, Chris Gayle went unsold twice and was then picked for base price by Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). However, there were players like Joe Root, Hashim Amla, Lasith Malinga, Thisara Perera and now second highest run-getter in T20Is Martin Guptill, went unsold after several rounds.
