Ravi Shastri was at the top of his voice: “And Dhoni finishes off in style!” India celebrated the April 2nd night like no tomorrow. The six over deep midwicket by MS Dhoni off Nuwan Kulasekara concluded the 2011 World Cup. That six turned out to be the most iconic one in Indian cricket. Dhoni has a knack of finishing it off in style.

Earlier this week, Dhoni slammed a 34-ball 70* to help Chennai Super Kings (CSK) chase down the daunting 206 set by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in VIVO IPL 2018. With 5 need off the last 3 deliveries, Dhoni tonked Corey Anderson over deep midwicket for his seventh six of the innings and securing the win. It was the 21st time Dhoni had done that.

Cricket statistician, Sampath Bandarupalli tweeted that Dhoni has done it once in a Test, 9 times in ODIs, thrice in T20Is, twice in List A (non international) and 6 times in T20s, which includes 4 instances in IPL.

CSK will hope for Dhoni to continue with this good habit as their skipper’s latest knock guided the side to the No.1 spot in the IPL points table. Mumbai will take on CSK at Pune on Saturday.
