Manjot Kalra scored the only century in the U-19 World Cup and it came when it was required the most the final. His unbeaten 101 guided India to their fourth title defeating Australia. India were consistent and remained unbeaten throughout the tournament. Kalra s knock earned him an IPL contract as well, with Delhi Daredevils (DD). He would be seen once again playing alongside his Under-19 captain Prithvi Shaw. DD will be coached by Ricky Ponting this season and Gautam Gambhir is back in the helm. Kalra is not just excited by the fact of playing under Ponting and Gambhir but is also looking to understand the game better and hone his existing skills.

On playing for DD: First and foremost I will get a chance to interact with them [Ponting and Gambhir] which is a very big thing for me. I m very excited. I will take it (IPL selection) as an opportunity. If I get a chance to play, I will try to make it count as much as I can, Kalra told Indian Express.

On winning the World Cup: The track was good but Australia threw their wickets away and were some runs short. We were, in fact, expecting a target of around 270-280 which is in itself a big total. The pressure was on us as a World Cup final is a big thing but we had a pretty solid batting line up and above that, all the batsmen were in good touch.
