The right-arm pacer played two matches of DC this season taking two wickets for 77 runs in eight overs.

Suchith is a 25-year-old left-arm spinner who has earlier represented Mumbai Indians when bought by the two-time IPL winners for his base price of INR 10 lakh. He was a regular in their squad, appearing in 13 matches while picking up 10 wickets but was a little expensive, with an economy of 8.64. In the following season, he played just one match for MI and was taken for 31 runs in two wicketless overs.

After spending the IPL 2017 season on the bench, he was released for the next season and failed to draw any interest from franchisees before finally been summoned by DC as an injury replacement.

DC coach Ricky Ponting termed Harshal's injury as 'unfortunate'. "It is unfortunate that Harshal Patel injured his right hand during our match against the Kings XI Punjab. We had to wait for a while to get confirmation on the same, and the X-ray reports showed that he has a fracture. Therefore, we conducted a few trials in Kolkata, and have come to the conclusion that Jagadeesha Suchith is the right man to replace Patel. He has previous experience of playing in the IPL, and can help the team in achieving its objectives this season," he said.

He took 10 wickets in 12 matches with an economy of 6.55 for Karnataka as they went on to claim the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy earlier this year.

Overall, he packs an experience of 43 T20s in which he has taken 37 wickets at 25.54 and an economy of 7.26.
