Dwayne Bravo, Harbhajan Singh, Ravindra Jadeja and Imran Tahir scalped two wickets each as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) restricted Delhi Capitals (DC) to 147/9 in the Qualifier 2 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Friday.

Put in to bat, Shikhar Dhawan took on Shardul Thakur, who replaced Murali Vijay in the playing XI, hitting him for three fours as DC moved to 20 in the first two overs. However, CSK struck in the third over as Deepak Chahar dismissed Prithvi Shaw after the right-hander could not execute the pull shot to perfection and was out LBW.

CSK struck for the second time in the powerplay as Harbhajan Singh struck in the sixth over as MS Dhoni took a sharp catch on the second attempt to remove Shikhar Dhawan for 18 DC lost both their openers in the first six overs and scored 41 runs.

While DC moved past fifty in the eighth over, CSK managed to keep DC in check as Ravindra Jadeja removed Colin Munro in the ninth over after the New Zealand left-hander had scored 27. (IPL 2019, Qualifier 2 CSK vs DC: FOLLOW LATEST UPDATES)

DC were in need of a partnership as CSK managed to keep things tight and the pressure of quick runs got the better off Shreyas Iyer as he top-edged an Imran Tahir delivery and Suresh Raina completed the catch to give the South African spinner his first wicket of the night.

The slide continued as Dwayne Bravo joined the wicket-taking party as Axar Patel perished in the 13th over, giving an easy catch to Tahir at the third man as DC lost their fifth wicket.

While Sherfane Rutherford survived Tahir’s guile and a DRS review, he could only score 10 runs as Harbhajan scalped his second wicket of the match and went on to become only the fourth bowler to take more than 150 IPL wickets.

CSK had a chance to end Rishabh Pant’s innings in the 17th over when he was on 24 but Chahar went past the boundary rope after taking the catch as the DC wicketkeeper-batsman got a life and his team a much-needed hope of putting up a respectable total on the board.

Bravo, meanwhile, made sure CSK continue to land blows at the regular intervals as he dismissed Keemo Paul in the 18th over. Chahar too made up for his earlier Pant reprieve as he removed Pant in the penultimate over as Dc were looking to end their innings with a flourish.

Trent Boult, Amit Mishra and Ishant Sharma though played a couple of big shots as DC scored 16 runs in the last over, bowled by Jadeja. But CSK managed to restrict DC to 147/9.

Brief scores: Delhi Capitals 147/9  (Rishabh Pant 38, Colin Munro 27; Dwayne Bravo 2/19) vs Chennai Super Kings
