KL Rahul broke Sanju's record for fastest 200 IPL sixes

KL Rahul secured a massive record to his name during the Delhi Capitals’ (DC) Indian Premier League (IPL) clash against Gujarat Titans (GT). The wicketkeeper-batter has been one of DC’s best performers, and secured this record which was previously held by Sanju Samson.

Rahul broke Samson’s record as he has now become the fastest batter to hit 200 sixes in IPL, securing this feat in just 129 innings. Sanju Samson was the previous holder of this record, who had secured this feat in 159 innings.

Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) MS Dhoni is at the third position. The legendary former Indian captain had taken 165 innings to hit 200 sixes in the T20 tournament.

KL Rahul’s career in IPL
KL Rahul’s IPL career began back in 2013, as he played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) before he moved to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). He scored 8 sixes for SRH in 20 matches.

KL Rahul hit 16 sixes in IPL 2016, and missed the 2017 season. His purple patch in IPL began in 2018, as he collected 659 runs, with 32 sixes. In the next three seasons, he hit 25, 23 and 30 sixes.

KL Rahul then played for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) from 2022 to 2024, and scored 53 sixes for the team. Rahul even captained the Lucknow side for all the three seasons. He then got taken by Delhi Capitals (DC) in the IPL 2025 mega auction.

Rahul has hit 13 sixes for DC so far, who are at the top of the points table as they have 5 victories out of 6 matches so far. If Gujarat Titans defeat them, they will move to the top place.
