The England and Wales Cricket Board (EXB) is reported to have made an offer to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to host the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. It is to be noted that the tournament has been suspended for a week as the tension at the border between India and Pakistan are escalating by the day.

The clash between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) was called off midway because of security reasons- a blackout was implemented at Dharamsala and neighbouring areas because of an air raid siren, and the crowd from the stadium was evacuated. The BCCI announced on the very next day that they have decided to postpone the IPL 2025.

With there being uncertainty over the future of the IPL 2025, The Guardian has reported that the Chief Executive of ECB, Richard Gould, has already reached out to the BCCI while proposing that the England Cricket Board can host the remainder of the season.

Should India be unable to restart the IPL after this week-long hiatus, one suggestion is for England to host the remaining fixtures later in the year,” the report said.

A senior ECB source has confirmed this could be possible in September, albeit adding that no ‘active discussions’ are currently taking place,” the report added.

All these tensions at the border are the outcome of a terrorist attack which was initiated in Pahalgam, which is a popular tourist spot in Jammu and Kashmir. 26 innocent Hindu tourists were killed that day. As a response, Indian Armed Forces launched a return attack, called ‘Operation Sindoor’, which targeted terrorist camps in Pakistan occupied Jammu Kashmir (PoJK) and Parts of Pakistan from where they would send the terrorists.

From the day ‘Operation Sindoor’ was initiated, the tensions at the borders have been increasing day by day, and all the changes in scheduling of cricket is also being made by BCCI while co-ordinating with the government only in order to ensure safety of the people.
