Royal Challengers Bengaluru created history as they won their first-ever Indian Premier League title. After wait of 17 long years, RCB have secured the title to their name in the 18th season. The tournament was a close encounter and Punjab Kings batter till their last ball.
After facing a defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the final of the IPL 2025, Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer was visibly very disappointed. After the match, he stated where the team made mistakes that led them to losing the title deciding clash.

After the defeat, Shreyas Iyer came to the post-match presentation and shared his thoughts. “Dejected to be honest but the way our boys came up to the occasion, the way we cherished, it wasn’t immaculate but lot of credit goes to the management, the support staff and each and every person who has participated and contributed. The way the owners supported us was also amazing. Considering the last game against MI, I personally felt that 200 was a par score,” he said.
Shreyas then praised RCB bowlers for showing excellent display, and spoke about being proud of everyone who participated in the team. He also praised the fearless nature of the youngsters who are playing their initial or their first-ever IPL season.
“They bowled brilliantly, especially Krunal, he carries a lot of experience, he has done it over a period of time. I believe that was the turning point. I am very proud of each and every individual who has participated in this team. There are a lot of youngsters who are playing their first season. The fearless nature that they showed was simply phenomenal,” he added.
Shreyas finally spoke about the job being half done- indicating the team is aiming to win the title next year. He also spoke about how every individual stepped up with the positive mentality of being able to win the match. He then claimed that the youngsters in the team will next year turn up once again with much more experience than this time, and might even take the team to their maiden title as well.
“The job is still half done, we have to be here and win the trophy next year. Positives, definitely the way we turned up and every individual stepping up and saying that he can win the match, there are so many youngsters in the team, I’m sure they’ve gained a lot of experience from these matches. I’m sure when they come next year they will carry immense experience with them. We can build some tactics and strategies around that so that we can play some decent cricket,” he concluded.
Let us tell you that Punjab Kings gave a strong competition to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2025 final. Invited to bat first, RCB posted a score of 190 runs on the board in their 20 overs. Punjab Kings failed to chase this target in their 20 overs and could only score 184 runs in their innings, losing the match by 6 runs.
