The Saurashtra and India pace bowler Jaydev Unadkat has returned to Rajasthan Royals, who forked out Rs 8.40 crore for his services at the 2019 IPL player auction in Jaipur on Tuesday.

At the previous IPL player auction, Rajasthan had purchased Unadkat for Rs 11.5 crore. Having released him, they got him back for nearly three crore less.

Despite not adding to his solitary Test and seven ODIs in recent years, Unadkat has been a top pick at IPL auctions every year, breaking the bank in the January auction. His consistent performances for Saurashtra have kept him popular in IPL auctions, and his base price of Rs. 1.5 crore this time is also the highest for any Indian player.

Unadkat set off another bidding war at the auction table as Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings, Kings XI Punjab and Royals chased him. KXIP and Royals went the distance, before the former pulled out.
