Against the backdrop of India’s humiliating 0-4 defeat at the hands of England, Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has hit out at the Indian Premier League (IPL), calling it a “tamasha” that has ruined Indian cricket.
Â
“IPL is tamasha and not cricket,” the chief minister said on the National Sports Day on Monday evening.
Â
“Players are being bought and sold in the IPL.
Â
Industrialists and influential people own the team and players. Cheerleaders and late night parties were other few features that make it different from sports,” Chouhan said adding, IPL has ruined Indian cricket.
Â
Chouhan, who looked upset with the recent defeat, said he was hoping to see batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar complete the ton of tons in the ODI series against England after missing it by a narrow margin in the last Test.(PTI)
