Just after a few days that Parthiv Patel led Gujarat scripted history by clinching the Ranji Trophy 2016-17 against Mumbai at Indore, they will now face the Rest of India squad in the one-off match of the Irani trophy 2016-17 at CCI, Brabourne, in Mumbai. This was their first title win in their second attempt. They had earlier lost to Holkar in 1950-51. The live streaming of the Irani Trophy 2017 will be available on Hotstar, while the live telecast of the match is available on Star Sports 4 and Star Sports 4 HD. Chesteshwar Pujara will be leading the Rest of India squad which comprises of some big names in Test cricket a such as Karun Nair, Wriddhiman Saha, Manoj Tiwari.

Gujarat have had a dream season, as they completed their first -ever title win in the history of Ranji Trophy. But with the tournament being out of their way now, Parthiv and his men have set their eyes on the Irani Cup. It is something that we all have agreed to, once the Ranji Trophy is finished, it is done. We had a goal of winning the Ranji Trophy before the season started we have achieved it, now we go to the next level and improve as a team and as individuals. It is something that every player in this team understands. They don t want to get satisfied (by winning Ranji Trophy alone).

It is a very big opportunity for all of us to play against a good quality side (ROI) and perform and get our game to the next level, Parthiv told on the eve of the match.

The return of Akshar Patel from injury has bolstered the side. The all-rounder, who did not play the final, was with the team in Indore to cheer for them. His return will strengthen both the departments, bowling as well as batting. With the top-order comprising of Priyank Panchal, Samit Gohel, Manprit Juneja and Parthiv himself being in imperious form, Gujarat will look to make a strong statement with the bat. Also, in RP Singh, Rush Kalaria, Akshar and the new pace sensation Chintan Gaja, Gujarat have a decent attack to take on the ROI team.

The Pujara- led squad, on the other hand, boasts of some of the finest names in Indian domestic cricket. Comprising of the best players from the country from Ranji Trophy 2016-17 season, ROI have some major names in both the departments. While the batting rests on the shoulders of Team India stars Pujara, Karun Nair, Manoj Tiwary, Abhinav Mukund and young sensation Ishan Kishan, the bowling too has got teeth with top wicket-taker Shahbaz Nadeem, Shardul Thakur Pankaj Singh, Kuldeep Yadav et al forming the attack. Wriddhiman Saha, Team India s first-choice keeper in Tests, also makes a return from injury and will be pitted against Parthiv, who not just took his place in the team, but also consolidated his position with a couple of fifties and match-winning effort in the Ranji final. It will be interesting to see how the game goes for these two players.
