The International Cricket Council (ICC) said in a release that Ireland can topple Zimbabwe from the 10th position in the Reliance ICC ODI Championship table, if they manage to win their one-off ODI against England at Dublin.

“If Ireland manages to win its second successive match against England, then it will move from 42 to 49 ratings points three ahead of Zimbabwe – while England will slip from 106 ratings points to 103,” the ICC said.

“In contrast, if England wins the match then it will earn one ratings point which will put it on 107 while Ireland will lose one rating point and will drop to 41.”

The two sides locked horns during the 2011 World Cup on March 2, wherein a heroic innings by Kevin O’Brien of 113 off 63 balls with the help of 13 boundaries and six sixes helped Ireland win the Group B league match with three wickets.

England will be lead by former Ireland cricketer Eoin Morgan.
