They had an excellent start to their run chase and showed their attacking intent from the beginning. Especially Stirling, who is nearing his hundred, looked very comfortable at the crease. Earlier a gutsy ton by Lendl Simmons and a free flowing 89 by Darren Sammy rescued West Indies from 87 for five and helped them to put up a competitive 304 for seven in their innings. Porterfield, the Irish skipper won the toss and asked West Indies to bat forty. Ireland have never beaten West Indies so far. Now today keeping the conditions in Nelson and opposition’s bowling attack in mind, they have a serious chance to cause an upset.
