Ishan Kishan’s Return: India has announced its squad for the T20 World Cup 2026 and the upcoming T20 series against New Zealand. On Saturday, BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia unveiled the Indian team, which includes the return of batsman Ishan Kishan after almost two years. Kishan last played India in November 2023 against Australia.
Stellar Domestic form earns comeback
The 27-year-old Ishan Kishan impressed in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, scoring over 500 runs at an average of 57, including two centuries, one of which came in the final against Haryana. His consistent performances in domestic cricket paved the way for his selection in the T20 World Cup squad.
In his last 10 T20 matches, Kishan has scored over 500 runs, including two centuries and two half-centuries, showcasing his excellent form and reliability as a wicket-keeper batsman. He has earned a spot in India’s T20 World Cup squad as the second wicket-keeper after Sanju Samson.
Ishan Kishan played his last T20 match for India against Australia in November 2023. After being dropped from domestic cricket, he was also dropped from the national team. Kishan was continuously out of the team after that. He has returned to Team India after two years, or 749 days.
