India opener Shikhar Dhawan finally struck form after a string of poor scores in the ODI series. Dhawan, who had scored 154 runs in the five ODIs at an average of 30.80, smashed a 62-ball 92 to guide India to a thrilling six-wicket win in the third and final ODI at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday.
Dhawan, who won the Man of the Match award, said he does not pay heed to what his detractors say after calls grew louder to drop the southpaw from the squad following his low scores.
âToday I finally got a big score. Even last match I was happy with the 43. I knew I had to stay till the end when we lost two wickets. Really happy with the way Rishabh Pant and I played. I knew that he was going after the bowlers and I had to make sure to keep one end safe. He hit some amazing sixes and then I joined the party. It is a big score, I’m very happy,â Dhawan said at the post-match presentation ceremony.
âIt doesn’t matter to me what people say, I just back myself and my batting.â
