Out-of-favour India batter Karun Nair has recently been incredibly dominant in domestic cricket. The right-handed batter has slammed 4 consecutive centuries, 5 in total in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Thanks to his brilliant knock, Vidarbha secured a comprehensive 9-wicket victory over Rajasthan to move into the semi-finals.

Karun became only the fourth player to score 4 consecutive centuries in List A cricket with Karnataka teammate Devdutt Padikkal, former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara and South Africa batter Alviro Petersen. The 33-year-old Karun has 664 runs from eight matches at an astonishing average of 664.

The batter made his debut for India back in 2016 and in only his third Test, played an incredible knock of 303 runs against England. With this, Karun became only second Indian player behind Virender Sehwag to smash a triple century in the longest format.

After this, Karun was only given 3 more Tests before he was dropped. The batter hasn’t been able to make a comeback since.

In a recent interview former India cricketer Robin Uthappa slammed the BCCI for not giving Karun chances to play international cricket despite his brilliant performances at the domestic circuit.

“If you are not going to let him play, then why are you giving hope to him. Just tell him that you don’t believe that he can succeed in international cricket, just play and score runs in domestic cricket. If you are giving him a chance, and this has happened with so many players, Karun Nair, he was removed from the team after his 300 and only two Test matches. It is a shocker because of our cricket ecosystem,” Uthappa told The Lallantop.
