All-rounder Jacques Kallis on Wednesday expressed his desire to continue playing for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the seventh edition of Indian Premier League (IPL), as he is among the cricketers who will be available in the auction pool in 2014.

“It is difficult to compare KKR with other franchises but I find it hard to imagine that any other group of players is looked after better than us,” Kallis wrote in his column for a leading daily.

Showing his intent to play yet another season of IPL, the 37-year-old said, “At this stage, I am still loving the tournament and its format and cannot envisage not wanting to play. I would love to think I could still be with KKR but you cannot control what happens at the auction, I guess.”

Kallis has been part of IPL since its first edition representing Royal Challengers Bangalore. The South African was picked by KKR in the 2011 auction. He remains the mainstay for KKR both with the ball and the bat, and played a crucial role in KKR’s maiden IPL triumph last season. He scored 403 runs apart from picking 15 wickets.

Praising the veteran all-rounder, Kolkata skipper Gautam Gambhir said a few days ago, “If he fails with the bat, he will come good with the ball. He can do both things very well.”
