Australian batsman Jake Lehmann is to join Lancashire as One-Day Cup cover for compatriot Glenn Maxwell, the English county announced Sunday.

Allrounder Maxwell has been summoned home to join up with the Australia squad ahead of the 50-over World Cup in England that starts next month.

Lehmann, 26, the son of former Australia batsman and head coach Darren has, like his father, also played for Lancashire’s arch-rivals Yorkshire.

“I am hugely excited to have been given the opportunity to join a massive club like Lancashire,”

Two years Lehmann scored 384 first-class runs for Yorkshire at an average of 54.85.
