Jammu & Kashmir teams beat South African rivals in T20 championship

Two local school teams beat their rivals from South Africa in a three-day T20 cricket championship aimed at promoting tourism in the state.

DPS Panthachowk beat Berea West Senior Primary School Durban by a whopping 77 runs in the first match, while Green Valley School trounced their South African opponents, Al Aqsa School, Johannesburg by 103 runs, an official spokesman said.

He said both the matches were played yesterday.

The spokesman said the four-team tournament will have six matches between the visiting and local teams.

The championship is first of its kind and organised by Montana Tours and Travels.

Director Tourism Kashmir Farooq Ahmad Shah appreciated the efforts of the organisers for holding this event in the valley. (PTI)
