Seinfeld star Jason Alexander has apologized for the comments he made on a TV talk show where he termed cricket as a “gay” sport.

Alexander had made the remarks on CBS s Late Late Show in which he told the host Craig Ferguson that certain aspects of the game made cricket a “gay game” as compared to other sports. He later explained in a blog post on Sunday as to what led to the remarks he had made

According to reports from AP, the actor’s 1,000-word-plus “message of amends” stated that the joking remark plays into “hurtful assumptions and diminishments” about people.

Alexander also wrote that as an actor with many gay friends, he “should know better.”
