Since Ottis Gibson s shift from England s bowling coach to South Africa s head coach, the England Cricket Board (ECB) are in hunt of a new bowling coach. Jason Gillespie was approached by the board after his successful stint with Yorkshire. However, Gillespie has denied all reports. He wants to focus on his future in Australia. Gillespie was earlier approached to take over the England head coach role in 2015. But fellow Australian Trevor Byaliss took over the role. At the moment Gillespie wants to focus on Big Bash League (BBL) franchise Adelaide Strikers this summer. Gillespie also took on a short-term assistant coaching role with Kent in 2017. When asked about England s vacant job, Gillespie told Unplayable Podcast, I haven’t thought about it to be honest. I’m committed to the Adelaide Strikers. We’re pretty excited about the Big Bash coming up in December-January. I’ve got some commitments leading up to the Big Bash as well so it’s not something I’ve spoken to anyone about. As with everything, you listen if someone gives you a call and says they want to have a conversation … but to be honest, at this point, it’s not something I’m thinking about.
