Openers Evin Lewis and Kraigg did not impress much. After a flurry of boundaries, Lewis gave his wicket away to Finn for 8. Lewis trying to play the ball across the line, gave a simple catch at cover. This was also Finn s 99th ODI wicket. Finn completed his 100th ODI wicket in the form of Kieran Powell, who, trying to pull the ball, managed a top edge into hands of Finn for a simple caught and bowl. Finn also became the third-fastest English bowler to 100 ODI wickets.

After a small stand of 25 runs for the third wicket, Shai Hope gave his wicket for 16. Ben Stokes asked Hopes to go for the expansive drive, and that he obliged only to give Jos Buttler an easy catch. Mohammed in the middle meanwhile joined Kraigg. The pair resurrected a faltering innings and snitched up a 72-run stand, where Kraigg scored most of the runs. Mohammed in particular looked sturdy at the start but soon opened up his range of shots.

Kraigg trying to accelerate the scoring rate missed a straighter one from Moeen Ali and got stumped for 42. Mohammed continued his show, getting to his second ODI fifty in style with a six; 50 coming off 71 balls.

Mohammed soon departed trying to up the ante; he misjudged the line of the ball and gave a simple catch at mid on for 50. Jonathan Carter soon departed after making a quick-fire 39. It was the pair of Plunkett and Rashid that was in motion; Carter wildly swung across the line and gave a simple to-edge catch to the latter.

Skipper Jason Holder and Carlos Brathwaite guided their team near the 200-run mark adding 26 runs. It was Holder trying to heave Rashid out of the park managed to get air-time, giving a simple catch to Rashid; his third in the innings.

Rashid was again in the limelight picking up Carlos’s wicket for 16. To the batsman’s discredit it was the combination of Jason Roy and Sam Billings that inflicted the wicket. Plunkett, soon got into action nabbing the wicket of Ashley Nurse for 13; his third of the innings. With 2 overs to go, Shannon Gabriel gave his wicket for a risky single, thus ending the West Indies innings on 225.
