India complete a whitewash over Zimbabwe yet again as they win the third and final One-Day International (ODI) by 10 wickets. KL Rahul and debutant Faiz Fazal batted extremely well and ensured that they did not need the help of any of their teammates in helping them chase down a paltry target of 124. Rahul and Fazal got to his fifty off 58 deliveries. Fazal on his way to a fifty became just the third Indian batsman after Robin Uthappa and Rahul to score a half-century on debut.  Zimbabwe bowlers toiled hard but it they failed to pick up any wickets in the match. In fact, they have picked up just three wickets in the entire tournament. India looked in no hurry to get to the total. FULL CRICKET SCORECARD: India vs Zimbabwe 2016, 3rd ODI at Harare

They took their time in the initial stages and when the openers got their eye in, they started going for their shots.  India have all the momentum going into the T20 International (T20I) series, which begins on Saturday. India will look to use more players from their bench like Jaydev Unadkat, Rishi Dhawan, Jayant Yadav and Mandeep Singh.  India vs Zimbabwe 2016, Live Cricket Updates, 3rd ODI at Harare

As far as the ODI series is concerned, they were clinical in all the three matches and did not give Zimbabwe an inch throughout. Rahul was phenomenal with the bat, scoring a ton on his debut in the furst match and following it up with a couple of steady innings. There were other bright prospects with the ball like Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzvendra Chahal, who is paying his first international series.

Zimbabwe were earlier bundled for just 123 in 42.2 overs. Bumrah was the star of the bowling attack finishing with career-best figures of 4 for 22. Chahal too continued his good run of form, finishing with 2 for 25. A couple of needless run outs too helped India’s cause. Things were going reasonably well for Zimbabwe before some senseless batting cost them dear. Zimbabwe lost four wickets off four deliveries that saw them reduced from 104 for 4 to 104 for 7. Due to this collapse, Zimbabwe once again failed to put up a competitive total on the board.

Chamu Chibhabha and Vusi Sibanda scored 27 and 38 respectively, but failed to convert their starts into big scores. Barring these two, there weren’t any highlights from Zimbabwe’s batting.

Zimbabwe had won the toss and elected to bat first. India handed out a debut to left-handed opening batsman Faiz Fazal, in place of Karun Nair, who scored 8 and 39 in the opening two matches respectively. Zimbabwe have made a lot of changes to their side, with the likes of Maruma, Donald Tripano, Neville Madziva and Tawanda Mapuriwa coming in. India have already clinched the series, going into this match as they had taken an unassailable 2-0 lead following their win in the second ODI.

Brief Scores:

Zimbabwe 123 in 42.2 overs (Chamu Chibhabha 27, Vusi Sibanda 38; Jasprit Bumrah 4 for 22, Yuzvendra Chahal 2 for 25) lost to India 124 for 0 in 21.5 Overs (KL Rahul 63*, Faiz Fazal 55*) by 10 wickets
