Team India‘s young and fiery bowling unit displayed a stellar performance to bundle out Zimbabwe for 168 in first ODI at Harare. Jasprit Bumrah was pick of the bowlers, as inexperienced Zimbabwe batsmen failed to read his sling-shot action. He scalped 4 wickets, conceding only 28 runs. Earlier, MS Dhoni read the conditions well and didn’t hesitate to bowl first. The decision paid off as the duo of Dhawal Kulkarni and Barinder Sran bowled in the right channel, not letting the hosts break the shackles. Sran made early inroads as he trapped Peter Moor plumb in front of the middle-stump. Live Cricket Scorecard: Zimbabwe vs India, IPL 2016, 1st ODI match, at Harare

Kulkarni relentlessly bowled in the corridor of uncertainty, and was soon rewarded with Hamilton Masakadza’s wicket, who is Zimbabwe’s most experienced player in the line-up. After 10 0vers, Zimbabwe could churn out only 32 runs at the loss of 2 wickets.

Captain Cool introduced Bumrah in the 11th over to make matters worse for the opposition. Bumrah, like his fellow pacers, kept things simple and bowled around the off-stump. He made full use of the situation and castled Chamu Chibhabha with a lethal in-swinger. The kind of rhythm Dhoni’s trump card was in, another wicket was overdue. Clueless Vusi Sibanda ran out of patience and edged a back-of-length delivery behind the wickets.

The only batsman who looked in ominous touch was Craig Ervine. However, his innings was cut short by slow left-arm orthodox Akshar Patel. He holed out a tossed up delivery to substitute fielder Faiz Fazal at long on.

The onus was then on Elton Chigumbura and Sikandar Raza to steady the sinking ship. They stitched up 38-run partnership before Raza was outfoxed by Sran’s slower delivery.

Chigumbura kept the innings ticking despite losing wickets at the other end. His 41-run knock helped Zimbabwe post a modest 168 on the scoreboard.
