Sanath Jayasuriya is set to make a dramatic return to Sri Lankan ODI squad against England.

With opener Upul Tharanga out of consideration after being embroiled in an alleged doping scandal, Jayasuriya will be an automatic choice to open the innings.

“If I get the call from the national selectors, I am ready to take the guard. I always place my country above everything else. Whenever I was given the chance, I always gave hundred percent,” he told the Daily Mirror.

“When I had to make sacrifices, I bowed down to the greater interest of the country. If my services are required, I would be glad as always to give my best,” Jayasuriya added.

Jayasuriya retired from test cricket four years ago in 2007, and last played an ODI for Sri Lanka way back in December 2009 against India.
