Former Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene questioned Michael Clarke’s integrity in a rain-marred match during the final day of the second Test at Pallekele which ended in a draw on Monday.

The incident occurred when Australian skipper took a low catch off Trent Copeland to dismiss overnight batsman Jayawardene.

Jayawardene (51), however, was unconvinced and stood his ground.

It prompted Clarke to approach Jayawardene and explain him that the catch was clean.

”Mahela. 100 per cent, 100 per cent I caught that. Clear as,” Clarke said.

”It s up to you (whether you want to walk or refer it), but if you re asking, 100 per cent I caught that.”

Jaywardene stayed, saying: ”I do walk mate, just wait. Chill.”

The unhappy batsman left the ground after replays showed Clarke had taken a clean catch.
