Jeetan Patel, the New Zealand off-spinner, has signed a new two-year deal with county Warwickshire . The 34-year-old has taken 107 wickets this season for the county side. Patel last turned out for New Zealand in a Test match last year in January against South Africa. He has played 19 tests, 39 ODIs and 11 T20s for New Zealand since making his debut in 2005.

Sport quoted him as sayingWarwickshire is a special club, with fantastic supporters, a talented group of cricketers and coaches, and a world-class venue in Edgbaston.We’ve achieved a lot this season and I’m proud to have contributed to our success.We’re in a great position to challenge for more trophies next season and I’m delighted to commit to the Bears for the foreseeable future.”

Warwickshire director of cricket Dougie Brown said ” Jeetan has given a huge amount to Warwickshire and is already recognised as one of the most successful overseas players in the club’s history.Not only is he one of the leading spin bowlers in the world, but an outstanding fielder and a destructive batsman who can change the course of a match.

His experience and cool head have helped the team triumph in many pressure situations, and everyone at Warwickshire is thrilled to secure his return,’ Brown added.
