Indian bowling attack, led by Jhulan Goswami, excel as the visiting India Women restrict the Australia Women at 125 for 8 in the second Twenty20 International(T20I) at Melbourne. India Women won the series opener at Adelaide on January 26 as they chased down the 140 put up by the hosts successfully with 1.2 overs still remaining and took a 1-0 lead in the series. With a brilliant performance from team, including a 31-ball 46 from Harmanpreet Kaur, India Women look quite confident and are looking to seal the series straight away. The intentions reflected from their body language as they fully dominated in the first innings and did not let Southern Stars score big and put up a challenging target. The match started off late due to rain and was curtailed letting each team play 18 overs. As soon as India got the ball, Jhulan Goswami gave them their first breakthrough. Goswami’s delivery found its way through Grace Harris’ bat and pad and dislodged the bails. Australia Women lost their first wicket after three balls and Australia kept on losing wickets one after another at regular interals. They lost two more wickets within five overs as Beth Mooney and Ellysse Perry departed soon without contributing much. Anuja Patil took a brilliant catch off a Jhulan Goswami delivery to dismiss Mooney while Perry went for a miserable run out. Lanning remained unfortunate as she missed on her half-century narrowly and got out for 49 and Jonassen followed her soon after in the same over. The lower-order batsmen could not do much except a boundary from Alex Blackwell and finally the Southern Stars’ innings ended with 125 runs on the board with the loss of 8 wickets.

For India, the most successful bowler remained Jhulan, who took two wickets for 16. Rajeshwari Gayakwad also bagged two wickets giving 17 runs. Poonam Yadav and Harmanpreet Kaur both took a wicket each.
