Joe Root, Moeen Ali get surprise visit from Liverpool’s Adam Lallana during England-South Africa Lord’s Test

Although he belongs to the other part of the nation, Liverpool Football Club’s Adam Lallana made full use of the post football season break as he travelled all the way to London. No, he did not do so to join some other football club in London like the big giants Arsenal, Chelsea or Tottenham Hotspur, but to enjoy some cricketing action. Yes, and why not! He is an English-born footballer, and cricket being his national game, it was quite obvious for him. However, it was not just to watch the match, as he also gave a surprise visit to England‘s new Test skipper Joe Root, and also met all-rounder Moeen Ali in the process. It all happened on Thursday, on Day 1 of the first of the three-Test series between England and South Africa at Lord’s, after the day’s play. He went inside the pavilion without a jacket and tie, which is against the rules of Lord’s, while he met Moeen along with Liam Dawson as well. Later, he also met Root, who was the star of the day, scoring a century on his debut innings as the England skipper. He also clicked some pictures along with the players.

Nevertheless, Lallan was not charged by the officials at the Lord’s for violating the dress code conducts. According to an MCC spokesman, “The picture was taken five feet into the building and he didn’t go further, so not an issue.”

The dress code regulations of the MCC is given below:

Gentlemen shall wear lounge suits or tailored jacket and trousers, shirt, tie or cravat and formal shoes with socks. Gentlemen will not be admitted to the Pavilion, including the Pavilion Concourse, unless, on entrance, their dress conforms to this Regulation. Religious, traditional or national dress, or service uniform, is permitted.

The following items of clothing are unacceptable:

• Any form of casual shoe; such as beach-style flip-flops, trainers, espadrilles, plimsolls or any shoe with a rubber-style toe-cap.
• Sandals and shoes worn without socks.
• Denim jeans and other denim clothing.
• Combat- or cargo-style trousers.
• Zip-up jackets or anoraks (without a tailored jacket).
• Pullovers or cardigans (unless worn under a tailored jacket).
• Fleeces and body-warmers (unless worn under a tailored jacket).
• T-shirts or singlets.
• Torn, ripped or unclean clothing.
• Shorts.
• Tracksuits.
• Garments in military camouflage colours.
