Jos Buttler creates massive T20 Record, overtakes Chris Gayle, only Kieron Pollard ahead now

England star Jos Buttler has added another major milestone to his remarkable T20 career. The explosive wicketkeeper-batter climbed higher in the all-time run-scoring charts after a brief but valuable innings in The Hundred, moving one step closer to the top spot.

The England batter is now only one player away from becoming the highest run-scorer in T20 cricket history.

Buttler goes past Chris Gayle in all-time T20 runs

Buttler achieved the milestone while playing for Manchester Super Giants against London Spirit in The Hundred. Although he managed just 16 runs off 11 balls, those runs were enough to take him past West Indies legend Chris Gayle in the all-time T20 run charts.

Add Cricket Country as a Preferred Source

The England star now has 14,572 runs in T20 cricket. Buttler also has nine hundreds and 102 fifties to his name in his career which shows his consistency in franchise and international cricket.

Gayle finished his T20 career with 14,562 runs from 455 innings, including 22 centuries and 88 fifties.

Kieron Pollard now within touching distance

Only Kieron Pollard remains ahead of Buttler in the list of highest run-scorers in T20 cricket.

Pollard has scored 14,803 runs from 663 innings, along with 2 centuries and 70 half-centuries.

Buttler now needs 231 more runs to overtake Pollard and become the leading run-scorer in the history of T20 cricket.

England star returns to form

After struggling for runs during the 2026 T20 World Cup, Buttler has found his rhythm again.

The right-hander was one of England’s best performers in the recent T20I series against India. His shining moment was in the fifth and final game where he scored a breathtaking 131 runs off just 64 balls.

Across the five-match series, Buttler scored 175 runs at an average of 43 and an impressive strike rate of 182, reminding everyone why he remains one of the world’s most dangerous white-ball batters.

Third on the all-time T20I run-scoring list

Buttler is also among the leading run-scorers in T20 International cricket.

He has scored 4,212 runs in 160 T20Is at a strike rate of 148, including 2 centuries and 28 half-centuries.

Only Babar Azam and Rohit Sharma are ahead of him on the all-time T20I run-scoring list. Babar is on top with 4,596 runs while Rohit, who has already retired from T20Is, finished his career with 4,231 runs.

Buttler’s form has come back at the right time and with another historic milestone in sight, the glovesman now has a golden opportunity to become the highest run-scorer in T20 cricket history in the coming weeks.
