Ahead of the The Ashes 2017-18, there have been a huge uproar amongst former cricketers and fans alike over Australia playing their pace quartet. It is been speculated that Australia will field Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins and James Pattinson in the first Test at Gabba on a lively track. Member of the quartet, Hazlewood has come out and said that playing all fast bowlers might not be the best of idea.

Speaking to, Hazlewood said, Just for the balance of the team, it’s always handy to have a spinner there and probably only fit three quicks in. Apart from Cummins, all others Starc, Hazlewood, and Pattinson.

Hazlewood feels that playing a spinner and three pace-man is the way forward for Australia. He has pinned his hopes on Nathan Lyon, who is currently in the pink of his career. The way Nathan has bowled it’s been absolutely fantastic, the last couple of years,” Hazlewood added.

Lyon in the recently concluded 2-Test series against Bangladesh scalped 22 wickets. Head coach, Darren Lehmann also confirmed that Lyon will be playing at Gabba. The first Test at Brisbane will start on November 22. The last time England toured Down Under, they were whipped 5-0 in The Ashes but in 2015 home season, they reclaimed the urn.
