After losing three quick wickets inside the first 10 overs, Delhi Daredevils have consolidated in the form of JP Duminy and Manoj Tiwary and reached 105 for the loss of three wickets at the end of the 15th over against Mumbai Indians.

Earlier in the match, after bowling out the Mumbai Indians for 171, Kevin Pietersen made sure Delhi enjoyed a good start to their chase. Opening the innings alongside Murali Vijay, the swashbuckling right-hander went after the pace duo of Jasprit Bumrah and Marchant De Lange.

He used his reach to great effect to thwack boundaries and sixes. He was particularly severe on Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling. Bumrah though, deceived him with a slower delivery, only for Merchant de Lange to drop the catch. At the other end, Murali Vijay was more circumspect. Vijay though, was stumped off the bowling of Shreyas Gopal.

With three spinners operating for the Indians on a turning track, it was always going to be a tough ask to chase a total of 160 plus, and Pietersen struggled against Pragyan Ojha. With runs drying up as the spinners started operating, Pietersen tried a switch-hit off Harbhajan Singh in the ninth over, and lost his wicket as he got bowled.

Pietersen’s dismissal brought Delhi’s best batsman of the season, JP Duminy to the centre. But in the next over, Delhi lost Dinesh Karthik as well, who was bowled by de Lange, in his attempt of a dilscoop.
