‘Just wait for a few more…’: Arshdeep Singh makes Bold statement on Mohammed Shami’s injury concerns after 1st T20I v England
Arshdeep spoke about injury concerns on Shami after 1st T20I ENG
Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh has opened up on Mohammed Shami’s injury concerns as the speedster was not featured in the Playing XI for the first T20I against England at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Shami was on recovery for 14 months, and was supposed to mark his comeback in international cricket with the match against England.
Shami was seen sweating out in the nets, and everyone was expecting his comeback in Kolkata on January 22 in 1st T20I against England. However, Indian captain Suryakumar shocked everyone as he announced playing XI and Shami’s name was not there. Fans and former cricketers are now assuming that Shami is either not completely fit, or he got an injury yet again.
However, Arshdeep Singh has reassured fans that there is no need to worry about Mohammed Shami’s fitness, praising the 33-year-old, comparing his bowling to that of his younger self. The pacer has also stated that fans have to wait a couple more days, hinting that the speedster will be seen appearing in the second T20I match, set to begin January 25 in Chennai.
“Just yesterday, I was talking about the same thing with Shami Bhai because when he was bowling, the way the ball was coming out of his hand was absolutely amazing. With every delivery, you would say, ‘Wow, how can such an incredible ball come out of someone’s hand like this!’ Just wait for a few more days, and you’ll get to see that bowling, and you’ll enjoy it a lot. The way the ball is coming out of his hand makes it look like the 22-year-old Shami Bhai is bowling again,” Arshdeep Singh said in the post-match interview.
Shami is going to be an important part in India’s upcoming season. Apart from the T20I series against England, he has also been named in Indian squad for three ODI series against England as well, and then in the Champions Trophy.
Shami last appeared in the 2023 ODI World Cup final, and has also been named in India’s squad for Champions Trophy. With participation of Bumrah not being certain, Shami’s comeback is important for team India since he is highly experienced.
