After Pakistan cricketer Umar Akmal was arrested for allegedly thrashing traffic warden and tearing his uniform after he was stopped for violating a signal, he was allegedly beaten up by the police in their custody. Soon after the incident, his elder brother and Pakistan wicketkeeper, Kamran Akmal reached the police station where he was barred from meeting Umar.

“I don’t understand why I am not allowed to meet my brother”, said a panic-stricken Kamran to PakPassion.

“I just returned after playing a match and came to know he’s jailed.

“The court’s time for the day is over and they want to keep him in custody tonight”, he added.

Kamran also expressed shock on how the police can behave this way with a renowned personality, “If they are doing all this with a famous cricketer, I wonder what they would do to laymen.”
His comments have come in scrutiny as to how can he distinguish between cricketers and normal citizens.

“I have heard that my brother is hurt and they beat him up. His face is full of scratches”, Kamran said.

“He is away from home since morning and I don’t know what crime has he done to be jailed.

“I request the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister to look into this issue” he concluded.
