The cash-rich Twenty20 leagues have certainly contributed in the improvement of fielding. Over the years we have witnessed some spectacular catches and this one has to be amongst the top.

It was a Big Bash League (BBL) match played between Adelaide Strikers and Hobart Hurricanes played at Hobart on January 5, 2013.

Strikers batting first posted 162 on the board and in reply the Hurricanes began slowly. They were struggling at 63 for three, when Travis Birt charged down to leg-spin bowler Cameron Boyce. He misread the wrong-un and the ball went towards the extra-cover.

Australian cricketer Kane Richardson, playing for Strikers was stationed at long-off. He started running towards but misjudged the ball’s flight. Just when it seemed the ball was on his way to land safely, Richardson dived full stretch and the ball stuck to his right hand.

That wasn’t all of it. Later, he also picked up the key wickets of Owais Shah and Evan Gulbis, as the Strikers went on to win the match by 38 runs.
