In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014 game played between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Daredevils, Delhi won the toss and elected to bowl on what seemed like  a flat deck. Ajinkya Rahane and Karun Nair opened the batting for Rajasthan. Rahane in particular essayed a few shots as it raced the boundary boards. However, it has to be said that Rahul Shukla the pacer from Delhi wasn’t able to get his lines right. He generally sprayed it around and bowled on batsmen’s pads.

For Delhi, Siddarth Kaul bowled reasonably well, as he didn’t try to do anything fancy but just kept it simple. Nair though went after him and smashed Kaul for a six over extra cover for a six. Hhe also hit him for a boundary in that over. Rajasthan on the other hand have made a steady start and will look for a big score on a flat deck. They have some fine hitters coming down the order and that should help them. Nair though was dismissed by Shahbaz Nadeem.

Earlier, to everyone’s surprise, Shane Watson sat out due to injury and Steven Smith was handed over the captaincy for the home side. The Ahmedabad weather though has played spoilsport and the covers were on and as a result, the play had a delayed start. It has to be said that there was no reduction in overs.
