The ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup final did not have a fair tale ending for Team India as West Indies outperformed them in all departments. Chasing only 146 after bowling India out for 145 runs, It was Keacy Carty calm and composed knock of that helped his team topple an unbeaten Indian team by 5 wickets as he remained not-out on 52* from 125 balls.  West Indies batsmen did have early worries as Avesh Khan and Khaleel Ahmed dismissed Girdron Pope and Tevin Imlach for 3 and 15 runs respectively. West Indies at that time were 28 for 2, before Shimron Hetmyer and Keacy Carty added 39 crucial run for the third wicket. It was Mayank Dagar, who provided some excitement and brought live to an dull fielding performance. Dagar picked up the key wicket of West Indies,skipper  Hetymer for 23 as Armaan Jaffer caught a simple catch at long-on. Dagar next victim was Shamar Springer, who had helped West Indies get past hosts Bangladesh in the semi-final. Springer in a bid to score big gave his wicket away to another simple catch towards Jaffer for 3 off 10 balls. Dagar’s third wicket was Jyd Goolie as he lofted a catch towards the bowler himself, adding just 3 runs to the team’s total. Dagar ended his splendid bowling showcase with figures of 3 for 25 in his 10 overs. Keemo Paul, who is infamous for his ‘Mankading’ episode , came in and supported Carty really well. The pair managed to bring up their 50 run stand in 102 which came at a very decisive time for them. Paul ended up contributing 40* runs from in an unbeaten stand of 69* runs. After Dagar’ it was pace-man Avesh who had the second best figures of 1 for 29 from this 10, with Ahmed  taking his solitary wicket for 32 in his 9.3 overs. Earlier, after winning the toss West Indies decided to bowl on pitch which had a lot for the faster bowlers. India’s rescue man Sarfaraz Khan was at it again as he his 89 ball 51 led them to a below par score of 145 runs. Alzarri Joseph and Ryan John shared six wickets between each other with both bagging three apiece as Indian batsmen faulted at the very final match of the tournament Joseph struck in the very first over of the day as Rishabh Pant stumped himself out out to another poor performance by the umpire. Joseph picked his second wicket in Anmolpreet Singh with India 2 down for 8 runs.  Indian skipper Kishan who has been struggling with his form lately became a victim of poor umpiring. While he attempted to flick it towards the leg side, Joseph struck him on the pads.

Ryan John was the new wicket-taker when he made a breakthrough in his very second over, picking up Washington Sundar 7 runs. Next wicket to go was Armaan Jaffer who was picked up by Shamar Springer for 5 runs.  Mahipal Lomror did manage to add 19 runs before becoming Chemar Holder of wicketkeeper Imlach. He shared a stand of 37 runs for the sixth wicket with Sarfaraz. Lomror’s wicket, the likes of Avesh Khan, Rahul Batham and Mayank Dagar did not contribute much.

India Under-19 145 in 45.1 overs (Sarfaraz Khan 51; Alzarri Joseph 3 for 39, Ryan John 3 for 38) lost to West Indies Under-19 146/5 in 49.3 (Keacy Carty 52*, Keemo Paul 40*; Mayank Dagar 3 for 25, Avesh Khan 1 for 29) by 5 wickets.
