Kevin Pietersen, cricketers wish Pakistan Happy Independence Day

Pakistan celebrates Independence Day on August 14, commemorating the day when they achieved freedom from Britis Raj. Despite India and Pakistan were declared independent at the same moment, with the Pakistan Movement campaign, aiming at building a nation for Muslims, the north-west part of erstwhile British India, was declared as the independent state of Pakistan, under the leadership of Mohammad Ali Jinnah. According to the Islamic calendar, the independence coincided with Ramadan 27, on the eve of Laylat al-Qadr. Many Pakistan cricketers took to social media to wish Independence Day.

Earlier, Wasim Akram said yesterday that the objective of creating and formulating the Super Speed Stars Programme for two weeks was to teach budding fast bowlers the demands and needs to play at international level. “The purpose of this camp was to prepare upcoming fast bowlers for international cricket. I believe our players should learn many important things before making it to the national team rather than learning afterwards. In our domestic cricket, the captain sets the field but actually it should be done by the bowlers according to their own plans,” Akram said.
