Discarded England batsman Kevin Pietersen will turn out to play for his Indian Premier League (IPL) team Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2015. Pietersen will join the SRH team from May 15 at the team’s hometown of Hyderabad. Pietersen will add some much-needed depth to a slightly frail SRH batting line-up. He will be available to play SRH’s match against Mumbai Indians (MI) on May 17. READ: Kevin Pietersen: The hero England need but do not deserve!

The former star batsman has been in magnificent form for Surrey, having most recently scored 355 not out. Unfortunately for him, new ECB director of cricket Andrew Strauss said that due to “trust issues” Pietersen would not be considered for consideration. As a result, he will be able to boost the SRH campaign at the perfect time. SRH are currently on the rise, and are in with a serious chance of qualifying for the final four. According to a media release by SRH, CEO K Shanmugam said that Pietersen would be joining the team soon. “Kevin Pietersen will be joining us on the 15th of May in India. SRH picked Kevin at this year’s auction and he will be available to take part in the remainder of our campaign this season,” he said. Meanwhile, SRH coach Tom Moody said, “It is great news that KP will be joining us earlier than planned.
