England batsman Kevin Pietersen moved up in the ICC Rankings for batsmen after his knock of 149 in the first innings of the second Test against South Africa at Headingley.

“Kevin Pietersen jumps seven places to 10th in the Reliance ICC Test Rankings for batsmen,” the ICC informed on Twitter.

Pietersen led England s fightback with his knock of 149, studded with 22 boundaries and a six, off 214 balls.

Pietersen added 147 runs for the fifth wicket with James Taylor to help England take a slender lead of six runs against South Africa.

The match ended in a draw.

Meanwhile, the 32-year-old batsman has hinted the third Test at Lord s could be his final for England.

“I can’t rule out that my next Test may be my last,” he said after winning the man of the match award in the drawn second Test at Headingley.
