Kevin Pietersen is regarded as one of the greatest English batsman in the cricketing history. His style, composure, innovative shots makes him one of the greatest contemporary batsmen. Despite all of this, Pietersen faced an axe after the 2013-14 Ashes whitewash against Australia and since then has not played a single match for the English side.

But after showing determination to claim his place in the English side, Pietersen decided to play county cricket with Surrey by quitting the cash-rich eighth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). With England drawing the Test series against West Indies, the Gillette World Sport gets underway with Pietersen emphasising on batting technique.

In the above video, Pietersen believes the simple philosophy of batting is to score as many runs as one can but also should ensure in entertaining the crowd. The English star counters most of the coaches’ words on getting foot to the ball. He then reveals his simple technique of batting by saying to get the head right on the ball. One gets to know a lot about Pietersen’s attitude when he says that he comes to training with a purpose and doesn’t end it without achieving it.

The 34-year old became more famous with his trademark ‘switch-hit’, entertaining millions of cricket fans. The switch-hit is a technical shot which needs sheer timing and execution and Pietersen became its inventor. He then gives his views and mool mantra on how to play the shot, which looks extremely difficult. The king of switch-hit himself demonstrates on how to play the shot and there’s a lot to learn here for a budding cricketer.
