England‘s swashbuckling batsman Kevin Pietersen was sold to the Delhi Daredevils for Rs 9 crore in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction 2014.
Pietersen was bought by the Daredevils with the Right to Match option available to all the franchises.
While Pietersenâs international career may have come to an abrupt end, but the maverick England batsman was expected to be in demand as he is set to be the fourth player to be auctioned on the first day at the ITC Gardenia in Bangalore.
Former IPL chief Lalit Modi was quoted by the BBC, as saying that Pietersenâs sacking was the England and Wales Cricket Boardâs (ECB) loss and the IPLâs gain.
Pietersen has played for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Deccan Chargers (DC) and Delhi Daredevils (DD) in past IPL tournaments.
