Kevin Pietersen to miss IPL?

England batsman Kevin Pietersen is all set to play country cricket instead of Indian Premier League (IPL) to push for a place in England’s Test squad. Pietersen is therefore set to sign a deal with an English County side and not play for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) as IPL 8 clashes with the County season. Apparently six Counties have expressed interest in notching up Pietersen but Surrey seems to be the most likely club that might be able to persuade Pietersen’s signature. Pietersen will be making his World Cup commentary debut in Australia later this week. He was sacked by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) following England’s 5-0 debacle in the Ashes last year and looked set to play out the reminder of his career in Twenty 20 leagues around the world. But ever since he had made his intentins to make a comeback, the national selectors are now finally willing to give the star batsman a chance. Add Cricket Country as a Preferred Source

The relationship between Pietersen and hit a new low when he published a book which criticised English cricket, especially coach Andy Flower and wicket keeper Matt Prior. Relationship between him and current coach Peter Moores, ECB managing director Paul Downton was not a particularly good one as well. Pietersen has not played First-Class cricket since he played in the final Test of the Ashes series against Australia in January 2014 but performed well in the Big Bash League this summer.
